D&D Chocolates was started in the late 1980s by Michelle Berridale-Johnson, the well known author of allergy cook books and the founder of the Inside Story magazine.
The Inside Story is the allergy care magazine for the medical profession as well as those with a personal interest in allergic conditions (see useful addresses on this site).
As the demands of editing and publishing such an essential magazine took over Michelle reluctantly was forced to relinquish her interest in D & D Chocolates. The business was acquired by Barbara Burgess, whose son, like Michelles, also suffers from a dairy allergy. The two businesses remain in close contact which is beneficial for both D & D customers and Inside Story readers.
In 2000 D & D became a Limited Company and took over the manufacture and production of carob products, and in April 2001 launched the best selling SIESTA Carob bars.
The Company’s main objective is to provide confectionery for people who suffer from dairy intolerance and gluten problems – particularly children. The Company’s range of moulded confectionery products are available throughout the year with special festive items being introduced at Christmas, New Year and Valentines Day.
